The latest viral “challenge”.

In an attempt to gain internet fame, the “challenge” has become a thing.

The Cinnamon Challenge. The Cereal Challenge. The Fire Challenge. The ‘In my feelings’ Challenge. The Tide Pod Challenge!(Still not sure how that ever became a thing)

And those are just a few of the more well-known challenges. Trust me when I tell you that there’s PLENTY more of these if you want to watch people make fools of themselves and also potentially injure themselves.

The newest one is “The Outlet Challenge“. According to my research, it’s a challenge that “…involves partially inserting a cell phone charger into an outlet and then sliding a penny down the wall onto the plug’s exposed prongs….”

Normally, I’d go all Boomer on this kinda shit and talk about how kids nowadays are stupid and whatnot…but this story made me pause and reflect on my younger years and all the stupid and criminal things I did back then.

I burned a LOT of stuff. And not for internet fame. Just to watch it burn. I LOVED fire. It’s an amazing thing to witness. We used to soak tennis balls in gas, light them, and volley them back & forth in the middle of the street at night.

I used to steal my father’s gunpowder from his reloading room to try & make explosives. In this instance, it’s probably a good thing the internet didn’t exist to provide me with instructions on how to actually do that. I ended up just burning a picnic table.

Needless to say, these are just a couple of examples of the dumb stuff I did when I was that age….so maybe go easy on these kids.

Were we really all that different?
