Wrestlemania weekend is now behind us, and what an amazing weekend it was. Almost every match delivered in the best possible way. I wanna take a look at some of my personal high points.
Highlight 1: Bayley def Iyo Sky (WWE Women’s Championship)
This match was everything I hoped it’d be, and it ended with Bayley finally on top of the Women’s Division where she belongs. She’s done great work helping to put over younger talent for the better part of the last 2 years. She deserved this shine.
Highlight 2: Sami Zayne def Gunther (Intercontinental Championship)
I know a lot of people wanted to see Chad Gable take down Gunther. But I think Sami was still the better choice. Sami had a great path to Mania, and with all he’s done in the last 2 years, it’s great to see him with a singles belt again.
Highlight 3: The Awesome Truth winning the Raw Tag Team Titles
Splitting up the tag titles was the perfect move to make. While I’m upset that Theory and Waller took the Smackdown titles, Truth and Miz winning the Raw Tag Belts was definitely a high point. R Truth deserved his first Wrestlemania win. He’s done so much for the company throughout his career, and at 52 years old, this win was long past due.
Highlight 4: Cody finishes the story.
Obviously this one had to be on the list. While I wish the match on night 1 where he tagged with Rollins to take on Roman and The Rock was a bit better, his singles match with Roman on Sunday went exactly how it should have. Such awesome spots with John Cena and The Undertaker coming to aide Cody against the Bloodline. My mind is still a bit foggy, but I’m pretty sure my eyes were teary when it was over. I’m sure Dusty is proud of his little boy.
