Three things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend – Oktoberfest edition!

Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke, hoi, hoi, hoi!!!!!

Oktoberfest is finally here and I definitely plan to do some ‘Festing the next few days.

The wife & I are planning to head to Lambeau on Saturday for Sunday’s Packers/Patriots game, so we won’t be here for the entire weekend, but we are looking forward to some of the Fest activities.

THURSDAY – CRAFT BEER NIGHT

The 14th Annual Craft Beer Night at Oktoberfest is back and should be better than ever! With over 30 breweries, many from the Midwest, you’ll have no problem finding something you can enjoy. You might even find your new favorite beer!

VIP tickets are sold out, but you can still get your hands on some general admission passes here.

VIPs get it starting at 4pm, and GA tickets will get you in starting at 5pm. Enjoy unlimited pours throughout the event, and you’ll also snag a commemorative glass, AND your 3-day pass to Oktoberfest!

Plus, you never know who you’ll run into at Craft Beer Night!

Find more info here.

FRIDAY – MORNING SICKNESS KICKOFF TO ROCKTOBERFEST @ THE STATE ROOM

You might not believe this, but back in the day, none of the bars in downtown La Crosse were open before the tapping.

We changed all that 14 years ago! Our 13th annual “Kickoff to Rocktoberfest” starts bright & early at 6am at the State Room. And I’m buying the first $100 in drinks, so get there EARLY.

We’ll have some special guests, sexy dirndl girls handing out free schwag, JUMBO brat bloodys/mimosas/screwdrivers/bloodys, and we’ll also have your shot at a pair of VIP passes for Oktoberfest!

Stop by & pre-game before the tapping of the golden keg with us at the State Room.

And just like Craft Beer Night, you never know who you’ll run into!

FRIDAY – THE TAPPING OF THE GOLDEN KEG

This is the only time I don’t mind standing in line! Right after our live broadcast at the State Room, we clean up & assemble the crew to head to the Festgrounds for the Tapping. We grab a few beers before we get in line & wait for the countdown.

Thankfully, the weather looks like it’s going to be absolutely perfect for some outdoor shenanigans!

There’s random “Ein Prosits” that erupt, the weird countdown voice(One Minute Until Tapping), Jump Around, Karl’s version of the German National anthem, the introductions of the royal family, and of course, the tapping of the golden keg!

Plus, the finale of the stein-hoisting competition!

Hope to see you all there!

FRIDAY – PAT MCCURDY FROM 3-5:30PM

My best friend, Pat McCurdy, is back for his annual Oktoberfest performance in the Altra Federal Credit Union Festplatz Main Tent from 3-5:30pm.

He’s got some new music, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy all his classics like “Monkey Paw”, “Choking the Gopher”, and “Sex & Beer”!!!!

Find more info here.

SATURDAY – POP ROCKS FROM 9-11PM

After a few years away, Pop Rocks returns to the main stage at La Crosse Oktoberfest!

Pop Rocks plays the best of today’s hottest top 40 hits, throwback hip-hop, pop country, party rock and timeless classics all mashed up and delivered in a non stop format.

Find more info here.

SUNDAY – OKTOBERFEST PARADE MARSHAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST @ THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

Enjoy pancakes, sausages, coffee, OJ, & milk at the Boys & Girls Club of greater La Crosse starting at 9am! Tickets are just $5 at the door, and children under 6 can eat for free!

Co-sponsored by North La Crosse Business Association, Kwik Trip, and Festival Foods.

Find more info here.

As always, there’s a BUNCH of other events happening this weekend and you can find many of them online at AroundRiverCity.com

And if you’ve got an event coming up that you’d like to see featured on AroundRiverCity.com, you can submit it for free here.
