Three things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend

Summer is coming to an end, folks.

The weather is changing. There’s a giant maple in my neighborhood that is already changing colors & dropping leaves all over the place. Shit….I even had to turn on my heated grips on my way to work one morning on the Harley!

But, before we completely pack things away for the season, let’s get out there & do some stuff this long Labor Day weekend!

Here’s a list of a few things going on in the area this weekend:

TONIGHT – ADULTS ONLY SKATE @ HIGH ROLLER FROM 8:30PM UNTIL 10:30PM

Put that knee brace on & lace up your skates for a night of FREE skating at High Roller with food, beverages & all your favorite tunes from the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s!

Yes, it’s free to attend if you register online, but it’ll cost you $6 at the door if you wait. You can also rent skates and/or rollerblades for just $2, and there is NO alcohol permitted at High Roller!

SATURDAY – THE 200 LAP ‘BIG CHEESE’ ENDURO @ THE LA CROSSE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY

See 4-cylinder cars, 6-cylinder cars, and minivans in a race to the finish to see who will be crowned the BIG Cheese of the 2022 Enduro at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway!

If you’re interested in participating in the Enduro, find more info here.

The gates open at 5:30pm & racing gets underway at 7pm. Kids from 6-11 get in for just $4, student tickets are just $7, adult tickets are $12, and family passes are $25! Find more info here & buy tickets here!

SUNDAY – ROCK THE VETS AT THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 417 FROM NOON-7PM

Get to the American Legion Post 417 on French Island this #SundayFunday for the annual “Rock The Vets” event!

Two stages, eight bands, and SEVEN hours of music! Food & refreshments will be available, and it’s all under the big-top tent, so the event is rain or shine!

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate. Buy them online here.

Live music from Don Harvey Duo, The Fabulous Baloney Skins, Frank & David, The Executives, Kyle Renfro, The Brianna Rae Band, the Great River Troubadours, and the Craig Olson Project

Rock the Vets is designed to continue programs that our American Legion Post 417 supports such as providing local military families with emergency financial assistance; contributing funding to accredited PTSD programs; supporting worthy youth programs such as American Legion Baseball, High School Oratorical Contest, Badger Boys and Girls States, and college scholarships; rendering military funeral honors to fallen comrades; and promoting Americanism with Color Guards at area parades and other events. 100% of all proceeds go to the above charities and causes.
