The Perfect Burger.

If you were to ask me to build the perfect burger, you’d have to start with the meat.

I like a mix of about 80-85% chuck with 15-20% brisket. I also like to mix in a bit of frozen butter to the ground meat. Form the patty to about 3/4″ and cook it medium rare.

A couple of strips of thick, crispy Bacon. A nice 1/4″ thick slice of a smoked cheddar.

Personally, I like a pretzel bun. They’re thick & doughy, but I’ll brush the inside of the bun with a bit of melted garlic butter and a short stint on the grill. Gives it a nice texture and adds a smidge of flavor.

One leaf of fresh, iceberg lettuce and MAYBE a slice of fresh, plump tomato.

And that would be my PERFECT burger. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy a good mushroom/swiss burger from time to time, and I also love a burger with some ketchup, mustard & relish on top, but my PERFECT burger has no need for any of that.

Obviously, that’s not always possible, but ideally, that would be the burger I’d eat 10 times outta 10.

According to a recent poll of Americans to find out what their “perfect” burger looks like:

  1. Our favorite toppings are: Cheese, Bacon, lettuce, raw onions, and tomatoes in 5th place. No mention of pickles!
  2. 46% of people said their perfect burger would have ketchup….and 43% said the same about mayo. Even fewer like mustard.
  3. Sesame-seed buns are the favorite, with 24% of the votes.
  4. Seven out of ten people said that the perfect burger would also need some kind of fries on the side.

What’s your PERFECT burger?

I like the Bacon jelly that Features in West Salem has on one of their burgers they have or in a chicken one, also like chipotle sauce.
