Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend.

Here we go! From now until sometime in September, I’ll be busy almost every single weekend with something work-related.

Gonna be a wild couple of months, but I’ll make the most of it.

If you’re looking to do something this weekend, there’s plenty of things happening in the Coulee Region, and here’s a few suggestions:

FRIDAY – ADULT PROM WITH PAT MCCURDY @ THE ALPINE INN

Your best friend, Pat McCurdy, is back at the Alpine Inn later tonight for an annual “Adult Prom” party!

So, pin that boutonnière on his lapel, or slip that corsage onto her wrist & get your duff up the bluff for a night of music, drinks, food, and dancing!

Pat starts at 7pm, so make sure you’re at the Alpine Inn early! Which is great for us old people who don’t like to stay out past 10pm.

SATURDAY – WEST SALEM FIRE DEPARTMENT CHICKEN Q

Another weekend, another Chicken-Q!!!!!!!!!

This time around, it’s in West Salem at the Fire Department on Mill St. starting at 11am and going until 2pm, or until the chicken is gone!

Enjoy a half chicken, baked beans, cole slaw & a dinner roll for just $12 at this drive-thru Chicken-Q!

Find a West Salem Fire Department member to grab your tickets to guarantee a Q, as there will only be a limited amount of walk-up dinners available.

SATURDAY – THE 20TH ANNUAL BETWEEN THE BLUFFS BEER, WINE, & CHEESE FESTIVAL

Crazy to think how far this event has come.

When I first moved here in 2003, the event was in the parking lot at the Brewery & when the line got too long, people would head across the street to Ski’s Bar for a drink rather than stand in the queue.

I think there might have been only two or three cheese vendors at that first year, and only a handful of breweries from the Midwest, but we had a hell of a time drinking in a chilly parking lot!

Fast forward 20 years, and here we go with the big anniversary for the Between the Bluffs Beer, Wine & Cheese Fest on Saturday at the Southside Festgrounds!

No big surprise here, but the VIP tickets sold out back in March, but there will be plenty of GA tickets available online & at the gates on Saturday.

This event is obviously 21+ and is also outdoors(rain or shine!). So, with some inclement weather in the forecast, might be a good idea to bring an umbrella/rain coat/etc.

You’ll be able to sample beer, wine, cheese, & more from vendors across the Midwest at this event.

The VIP starts at noon, with the unwashed masses(my nickname for the GA attendees) starting at 2pm.

SUNDAY – ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT BREAKFAST @ THE ROY L. VINGERS AMERICAN LEGION POST #52

Look…after all that beer, wine, & cheese on Saturday…you’re gonna want to soak it all up with a big, greasy breakfast.

Why not head to the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post #52 here in La Crosse for their All-You-Can-Eat breakfast on #SundayFunday???

You do know they have a bar there that serves bloodys, right?

Breakfast starts at 8am. Make sure you come hungry!

As always, there’s plenty of other events happening in our area this weekend and you can find many of them online at AroundRiverCity.com

And if you’ve got an event coming up that you’d like to see featured on AroundRiverCity.com, you can submit it for free here.
