Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend.

BRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Have you turned your heat on yet? You might need to this weekend with high temps during the day on Saturday & Sunday to be somewhere in the low-40’s!

I’m holding out as long as I can, but I think my days are numbered.

After a nice, relaxing, 10-day vacation in Iron River, the wife & I were very happy to be back home this week. Had a lot of laundry & cleaning to do around the house, some minor winterizing, and trying to lose a few pounds of that vacation weight I gained!

We’ve got a bunch of stuff going on this weekend before we head to Milwaukee for a few days next week, including my brewery bus trip to Eau Claire on Saturday(you can still buy tickets here), and we’re going to the Rivoli Theatre & Pizzeria on Sunday afternoon to see the original “Exorcist” on the big screen!!!!

If you’re looking for something to do in our area over the next couple days, here’s a few suggestions:

FRIDAY – FRIDAY NIGHT COMEDY @ THE MAIN – AN EVENT SPACE

Comedy on Friday night is back at the Main – An Event Space in downtown La Crosse! This week, your headliner is Nate Armbruster, with opening comedienne, Pearl Rose!

Nate Armbruster is originally from Detroit, & started his comedy career at open mic nights in the Motor City before eventually making the move to Chicago.

In the Windy City, Nate has become a fixture on the local comedy scene, performing at clubs, colleges, and festivals across the region.

Pearl Rose is a comedian who recently returned to her hometown in Minnesota. She has performed at venues up and down the East Coast, such as Good Good Comedy Theater in Philadelphia and the DC Improv in Washington, DC. She has opened for nationally touring headliners including Joe List, Carmen Lynch and Jon Dore.

Doors open at 7pm & the comedy starts at 8pm. Tickets start at just $10 and can be purchased at the door, or online in advance. And new this year, you can reserve the EXTREMELY popular tables!!!

SATURDAY – HALLOWED GROUND @ THE JAILHOUSE SALOON

Hallowed Ground is a kick-ass, local cover band that’s been playing in the area for YEARS! They cover everything from Godsmack to Alice In Chains to Johnny Cash! They also play your favorites from White Zombie, 3 Days Grace, Metallica, and MANY others.

The Jailhouse Saloon has amazing food, including some seriously awesome pizzas, some of the best burgers in the area, and delicious apps! (Try the Fugitive burger with EXTRA Bacon!!!)

Get there early for some food, drinks, and live music from Hallowed Ground starts at 8pm!

SUNDAY – DRAIN THE TAPS @ ECKER’S APPLE FARM

This event is both Saturday & Sunday, so by Sunday afternoon, you may not find as many options in the outdoor taproom at Ecker’s Apple Farm.

I’m ashamed to say that we have yet to make it out to Ecker’s this year, so we’re DEFINITELY going on Sunday afternoon.

The farm/market opens at 10am on Saturday & Sunday, with the beer garden pouring the crafty, crafty beers at noon. On both Saturday & Sunday, you can enjoy food from the Monkey Business food truck starting at noon!

Music on Saturday is our buddy, Andy Hughes, from 1-4pm…and on Sunday, you can enjoy tunes from Maddie Eggerichs from 2:30pm until 4pm.

Enjoy $4 drafts(while they last), plus a pie-eating contest & costume contest on Saturday!

As always, there’s plenty of events happening in our area this weekend & you can find many of them online at AroundRiverCity.com

And if you’ve got an event coming up that you’d like to see on AroundRiverCity.com, you can submit it for free here.
