Three things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend

Last weekend was so friggin’ nice out!

This weekend…not so much.

Yours truly is going to be a busy boy this weekend with our “Adult Prom Night” for the Pat McCurdy show at the Alpine Inn tonight. Then, I’ll once again be emceeing the Between the Bluffs Beer, Wine, & Cheese Fest on Saturday, and then the wife & I will hop on the bus to Miller Park to see the Brewers take on the Red Sox on Sunday.

Whew.

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, here’s a few suggestions:

FRIDAY – TOM PETTY “FINDING WILDFLOWERS” ALBUM ENCOUNTER @ THE UWL PLANETARIUM

“Finding Wildflowers”(Alternate Versions) is a collection of Tom Petty music, featuring 16 studio recordings of alternate takes, long cuts and jam versions of Wildflowers songs as Tom, band members and co-producer Rick Rubin worked to finalize the album in 1994.

Couple that with a laser light show and an affordable, $5 cover at the door, and you’ve got a great night of entertainment! Show starts at 8pm.

The Planetarium is room 20, in the basement of Cowley Hall. If you’re going, park in the stadium lot (Commuter Lot 2/C-2) on the northeast corner of East Avenue and Pine Street. Commuter lots are not enforced after 7 pm.

Find more info on this event here.

SATURDAY – RECORD STORE DAY/WEEKEND @ DEAF EAR RECORDS

As always, SUPPORT LOCAL!!!

Especially when it comes to your local record store. So many things to look at, listen to, and purchase. They’ve got CDs, DVDs, cassettes, vinyl, action figures, collectibles, comics, and SO much more at Deaf Ear Records.

And this Saturday is Record Store Day around the country, with special releases GALORE! Deaf Ear is open from 10am until 8am on Friday & Saturday, and from 11am until 6pm on Sunday.

So, stop in to the shop sometime this weekend and find something new & exciting to listen to…or maybe pick up and old favorite and relive some memories.
