Tips for dealing with strange dreams & nightmares during the ‘Rona.

My wife & I just talked about this last night.

I was extremely tired yesterday after two nights with little sleep. She had trouble sleeping the night before, too. She said she kept having these strange dreams.

We’re fortunate, as we’ve both continued to work during this ‘Rona thing….so our schedules have essentially stayed the same, but the added stress of dealing with all this has definitely wreaked havoc on our ability to get a good night’s sleep.

And we’re apparently not alone.

A woman named Erin Gravley started a blog called “I Dream of Covid” to document the strange & disturbing dreams and nightmares that people are having during the pandemic.

But, thanks to other stressful global events in our past, there’s some good tips for getting a decent night of sleep.

  1. Stick to a routine! Maintain a structure to your day and it will help your body stay in sync with it’s circadian rhythm & will help you sleep better.
  2. Keep your work & sleep spaces separate. If you’re working from home, do that in an office, or the kitchen, or downstairs…but reserve the bedroom for sleep & sex!
  3. Skip the late-night doomscrolling sessions. Don’t be loading up on bad news before trying to fall asleep!
  4. Unplug from tech at least an hour before bed. No TV, no phone, no tablets….the blue light from your phone & TV interferes with your body’s melatonin!
