Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend.
Brutally cold this weekend with high temps right around 5 both Saturday & Sunday.
Please keep that in mind if you’re going to be venturing out this weekend.
I think we’re going to get something to eat at Pizzeria Dolorosa on Saturday afternoon and then head next door to the Rivoli Theatre for their December “Cult Movie Night” featuring Gremlins 2 followed by Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2!
Then, a full day of football on Sunday with my Pats on at noon against the Bills and the Packers in Denver to take on the Broncos at 3:30pm.

FRIDAY – 2025 CANADIAN PACIFIC HOLIDAY TRAIN IN WINONA
The Canadian Pacific Holiday train is going to be stopping in La Crosse, Tomah, & Sparta on Thursday the 11th…and then again in La Crescent, Winona, and Wabasha on Friday the 12th
It’s the 27th year of spreading holiday cheer while collecting food & raising money for food insecurity in the Winona area.
Professional musicians play free concerts from the brightly decorated train’s stage. American Authors and Pynk Beard will provide live entertainment for each stop between La Crescent and Minneapolis.
The stop in Winona will be at the Amtrak station on East Mark St. at 3:45pm until about 4:15pm.
Since its inaugural journey in 1999, the Canadian Pacific Holiday train has raised more than $26 million and collected approximately 5.4 million pounds of food for community food banks in Canada and the U.S.

SATURDAY – MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCH COOKIE WALK
All I can say is that you should get there EARLY if you want to get the really good stuff, because it goes FAST!
Mary, Mother of the Church Parish will be holding their annual Cookie Walk & Craft Sale this Saturday in the parish hall on Weston Street in La Crosse from 7:30am until 1pm.
Purchase homemade cookies, candies, breads, pies, Scandinavian sweets, handcrafted items, and more!
They will also be serving breakfast (featuring egg bakes and cinnamon rolls) and lunch (homemade soup and chili). And there will be door prizes every half hour.
This event at Mary, Mother of the Church is free to attend, and cookies/baked goods are $8 per pound!

SUNDAY – LORD OF THE RINGS TRIVIA @ HOWIE’S LA CROSSE
One ring to rule them all!
Lord of the Ring trivia returns to Howie’s on La Crosse this Sunday night at 7pm. It’s free to play and there will be prizes!
Most of the trivia questions will deal with the LOTR movie trilogy, however some of the questions will cross-over into the books.
Trivia lasts about two hours with 7 total rounds, including a lightning round to finish things up.
Prizes will be for 1st & 2nd place teams, and for the “Most Precious Team Name”
