Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend.
We got a bunch of snow. We flipped to the month of December. It’s officially the holiday season!
That means there’s a ton of holiday shit happening in the area each & every day of the week…and even more on the weekends.
I think we’re heading to Sparta this weekend for the Kriskindlmarkt. We were supposed to go last Saturday, but the storm put a damper on that. Do a little Christmas shopping, stop into Matsumoto Ramen House for some NOODLES, and then hit Cork & Barrel for a beverage or two!
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, here’s a few other suggestions:
FRIDAY – HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR @ THE FEATURES FIELDHOUSE

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! You can hit up the Features Fieldhouse in West Salem for their holiday craft fair & vendor market, featuring dozens of LOCAL vendors & crafters selling all sorts of stuff to put under the tree!
Pick something up for your mom…or yourself! The holiday craft fair & vendor market at the Features Fieldhouse runs from 4-7pm on Friday, 9am until 4pm on Saturday, and from 9am until 1pm on Sunday. It’s free to attend, and they are also accepting donations of non-perishable food items for the Rotary Lights.
Might as well stop into Features while you’re out there for a bite & a beverage!
Find plenty of handmade gifts, unique décor, sweet treats, or something totally unexpected!

SUNDAY – THE WRECK OF THE EDMUND FITZGERALD: THE SHIP, THE STORM, & THE SONG @ THE LA CROSSE PUBLIC LIBRARY

November 10th of this year marked the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior, and this Sunday at the La Crosse Public Library, you can join Steve Ackerman, a professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences, for a discussion about the ship, the storm that sunk it, and the song about the tragedy by Canadian folk-singer, Gordon Lightfoot.
Steve has a very lengthy bio and has won many awards including the NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal. He, along with Professor Jonathan Martin, is one of the ‘weather guys’, who appear monthly on Wisconsin Public Radio to discuss the weather and climate. They also write a weekly blog and a column for the Wisconsin State Journal which answer people’s weather questions.
This event is from 2pm until 3pm at the Main Library branch and is also free & open to the public!
