Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend.
Last weekend, I was in a bar for most of the time watching USA Hockey kicking ass at the Winter Olympics and pounding beers.
This weekend, I’m going to do my best to stay home and get a few projects done. I’ve got a shelf that needs to be re-leveled, some laundry waiting to get cleaned, and some baths for the dogs. They STINK!
If you’re looking to get out and do something fun the next few days, here’s a few suggestions:
FRIDAY – STACK’D SPELLING BEE @ TURTLE STACK BREWERY

Wait a minute! So much for staying home all weekend.
This is my JAM! Drinking crafty beers & spelling words!!!!! If you’ve ever listened to our show, you’d know that I am extremely proud of my spelling abilities. I did take third in a spelling bee when I was in 2nd grade.
I know…it’s impressive.
Needless to say, I think I might take a long-ass nap on Friday afternoon, then get my ass to Turtle Stack Brewery for this spelling bee. Sounds pretty simple…spell words correctly and win free beers.
It’s the first ever Stack’d Spelling Bee this Friday night in the Turtle Stack taproom and all you have to do is sign up by 6pm, purchase a beer to play, and win a free beer for every word you spell correctly!

SATURDAY – THE 13TH ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF BASH @ FEATURES IN HOLMEN

We had fake Spring a few weeks ago…and since then, Winter has returned to remind us that we’re not out of the woods yet.
Yes, we were all amped-up for some patio beers when the temps got into the 50’s, but now it’s time to stay inside and throw something in the crockpot until Ma Nature decides to bring back the warmer weather.
So, if you’ve got a killer chili that you want to put to the test, then get to Features in Holmen on Saturday starting at noon for their 13th annual Chili Cook-Off!
It’s totally free to submit your chili, and only $5 for a spoon to participate in the tasting/judging. Features in Holmen also has an upgrade available to the “Chili Tapper Package” where you’ll get a grilled cheese sammich & a tap beer with your chili spoon for just $10!
Proceeds from this event will benefit the DARE program, and while you’re trying all the chilis, you can also participate in the gun & meat raffles!
