Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend

Back from vacation & it’s finally getting cold out there. After ten days of driving halfway across the country & back again, I’m looking forward to relaxing a bit this weekend at home.

If you’re looking to get out & have some fun this weekend, there’s plenty of opportunities and here’s a few suggestions:

FRIDAY – VINTAGE GHOULEES IN THE COULEES @ THE NORSKEDALEN NATURE & HERITAGE CENTER

The Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center‘s annual Ghoulees in the Coulees events run this weekend and include the “Ghosts & Toasts” on Saturday evening, and tonight’s “Vintage Ghoulees in the Coulees” from 5:30pm until 8:30pm!

Enjoy haunted hikes on Norskedalen‘s wooded trails and through a historic homestead area lit only by the moon and glowing Jack-o-lanterns! There will be ghosts, ghouls, and other spooky effects along the way, and guides will help you navigate the trails in case you get turned around.

This event is outdoors & takes place place rain or shine. Concessions will be available for purchase, including homemade mac & cheese, sliced apples with caramel sauce, cookies, hot apple cider, bottled water, and more.

Tickets for this event MUST be purchased in advance online here.

SATURDAY – 5TH ANNUAL HOG ROAST @ GREAT RIVER HARLEY-DAVIDSON

Riding season is coming to a close, but with a high of nearly 60° on Saturday, it’s a great time to throw a leg over and get to Great River Harley-Davidson for their 5th Annual Hog Roast!

They’re roasting an entire pig at Great River HD this Saturday and starting at 11:30am until it’s gone, you can enjoy some of that delicious pork, have a drink, earn double rewards points, win door prizes, meet up with fellow riders, talk to the amazing staff at Great River Harley-Davidson about winterizing your bike, and more!

Find all the details on this event here.

SATURDAY NIGHT – HAUNTED CORN MAZE @ SCHWERTEL FAMILY FARMS

Halloween is just a week away and you can get a jump-start on the festivities by getting to Schwertel Family Farms for a scary good time in their corn maze!

The G-E-T Music Boosters will be in the maze waiting for their next victims, and a portion of the ticket proceeds will be going to their organization!

The haunted corn maze begins at dusk with the last ticket sold at 9pm. Admission is just $12 per person and you can get tickets at Schwertel’s!

SUNDAY – DRAIN THE TAPS @ ECKER’S APPLE FARM

Sad to say, but the beer garden at Ecker’s is closing down and it’s time to drain the taps!!!

With the Packer game on SNF, there’s no reason you can’t pregame a bit at Ecker’s on Sunday afternoon with $4 & $5 beers and hard ciders until they’re gone.

The orchard & beer garden open at noon with live music from Macy Zawacki starting at 1pm and Monkey Business food truck serving up some amazing food.

And while the beer garden might be closing down for the season, you can still get apples, apple pies & caramel pies on weekends in November.

As always, there’s a bunch of other events happening in the area this weekend and you can find many of them online at AroundRiverCity.com

And if you’ve got an event coming up that you’d like to see featured on AroundRiverCity.com, you can submit your event for free here.
