Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend.

Let’s be perfectly honest. There’s only one thing happening this weekend and it’s Oktoberfest!

Yes, I’m sure there’s plenty of other things going on in the area and you’re welcome to enjoy those, but I’ll be busy ‘Festing it up!

On Friday, we’ll be broadcasting live at the State Room in downtown La Crosse for our 19th Annual Kick-off to Oktoberfest!!! Doors at the State Room open at 6am and the first $100 in drinks is on me! Come join us as we pre-game it for the Tapping of the Golden Keg with JUMBO mimosas, bloodys, Brat Bloodys, and more!

After we get done, we’ll head to the Festgrounds for the Stein-Hoisting finals, followed by my personal favorite part of Fest…the Tapping!!!!(RIP, Karl!)

After the Tapping, it’s a sea of people enjoying beers, brats, and enjoying the Gemütlichkeit! There’s live music from the Swing Crew starting at 11:30am(It’s TOASTING TIME!) and Pat McCurdy will hit the stage at 3pm for his annual appearance at Fest.(It’s also his birthday show!). More music later in the day from Hillbilly Rocketship starting at 5:30pm and DO NOT MISS the Solkela Polkela Band from 5pm until 8pm.

My wife & I saw Steve Solkela perform his one-man-band act at Earth Rider Brewery a few years ago at their Oktoberfest celebration while we were on vacation in Iron River, and Steve will be performing several times this weekend, including Friday’s show with his entire family!

Check out Friday’s full schedule here!

On Saturday, we’ll be setting up on the corner of 2nd & State for the Maple Leaf Parade and the weather looks like it’s going to be absolutely perfect for some day-drinking on a sidewalk!

As I mentioned, Steve Solkela will be playing multiple times this weekend…including on Saturday from 11:30am until 1:30pm. Also on Saturday, the Lederhosen games run from 2pm until 4pm(Stein races, stein holdings, barrel roll, grain toss, Schokolade essen and scavenger hunt – Play games, have fun and win prizes), and there’s more live music from The Remainders at 8pm, followed by the fireworks show at 9pm!

Sunday Funday at Fest is FREE! Yup…it’s free to get on the grounds for EVERYONE, so make plans to enjoy the pancake breakfast from 7:30am until 11am. And stick around for live music from The Executives starting at 2:30pm. And did I mention that Steve Solkela is playing multiple times this weekend at Fest? Well, you can see him performing while riding a unicycle on Sunday staring at 2pm.

It’s going to be a great weekend of Festing and for all the info on tickets, wristbands, what kind of bags you can bring down to the grounds, the full line-up of events and everything else, head to OktoberfestUSA.com!
