Three things to do in & Around River City this weekend.

Is it really the end of April already? It feels like St. Paddy’s Day was like a week ago.

But here we are. The weather is starting to stay in the 50’s & 60’s. We leave for Nashville on Wednesday for a couple of Metallica shows. Big Bikes is just weeks away. Time is literally speeding by.

After a busy couple of family-filled days last weekend, the wife & I will be spending a lot of quality time together this weekend with our 12th anniversary coming up on Sunday.

If you’re looking to do something this weekend in the Coulee Region, here’s a few suggestions:

FRIDAY – ADULT PROM WITH PAT MCCURDY @ THE ALPINE INN

The kids can have their proms with pictures at Riverside Park, but I’d rather get my duff up the bluff to the Alpine Inn for the 13th(ish) annual Adult Prom with live music from the legendary Pat McCurdy!

Pat is scheduled to start at 8pm and there’s a $5 cover charge, so come early, get a table, order some food, and get ready to have some Sex & Beer!

Make sure you dig through that closet in the attic for your old tux or that poofy dress with the big shoulders! And if it doesn’t fit anymore, then make your way to a second-hand store & grab something formal to wear for Adult Prom with Pat McCurdy!

SATURDAY – BETWEEN THE BLUFFS BEER, WINE & CHEESE FEST @ THE SOUTHSIDE OKTOBERFEST GROUNDS

The Grand-Daddy of them all! The craft beer festival that started over two decades ago at the City Brewery is now turning 21 in style with this year’s Between The Bluffs Beer, Wine, & Cheese Fest at the Southside Oktoberfest grounds on Saturday afternoon!

I’ll once again be your emcee for one of my favorite events of the year. There’s just something about sampling a bunch of delicious brews in a parking lot in late April with thousands of other beer lovers!

And the majority of the craft beers, fine wines, and delectable cheeses & meats are from vendors in La Crosse, the Coulee Region, and the state of Wisconsin!

This event is obviously 21+, and VIP ticket holders can get onto the grounds and start sampling at noon, with general admission peeps hitting the gates at 2pm. The event is rain or shine…and thankfully, the weather looks like it’s going to cooperate!

SUNDAY – 2025 EARTH FAIR @ MYRICK PARK

Earth Day was earlier this week, and there’s a big celebration happening at Myrick Park on Sunday thanks to the Sustainability Institute!

This event is FREE, family friendly, and open to everyone.

Stop by Myrick Park on Sunday between 11am-4pm and take part in a marsh walk, insect presentations, live music, vendors, a farmers & artisan market, prizes, animals from Rainbow Ridge Farm, food vendors, a live raptor demonstration, and so much more!

As always, there’s a bunch of other events happening in our area this weekend with many of them listed online at AroundRiverCity.com

And if you’ve got an event coming up that you’d like to see featured on AroundRiverCity.com, you can submit it for free here.
