The brutally cold temps are going to be hanging around for most of the weekend, but there is some relief on the way next week, with highs around 40° on Tuesday & Wednesday.
This weekend is going to be BUSY for yours truly with our annual 9-Pin Tap Tourney at All Star Lanes on Saturday, and my wife’s birthday! We’re planning on a trip to Sullivan’s Supper Club on Sunday for a nice meal with her parents.
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend in & around River City, here’s a few suggestions:
FRIDAY – COMEDY @ THE MAIN – AN EVENT SPACE
Last week, the snow put a real damper on almost everyone’s plans, including the comedy show that was scheduled at The Main – An Event Space.
Unfortunately, they had to postpone the show due to the weather, but comedy is BACK this Friday with Rob Brackenridge and Mike Merryfield on stage, serving up the laughs.
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance online, or grab yours at the door if they are still available.
Rob Brackenridge was destined to become a comedian. His TV appearances include Comedy Central’s “Make Me Laugh” and “Stand-Up, Stand-Up”, and Rob has worked in many comedy clubs, including the Improv in Los Angeles, the Comedy Store in London and Catch a Rising Star in New York and Las Vegas.
Mike Merryfield produced and appears in ‘The Standup Journeymen’ on Amazon, has eight comedy albums(all available on iTunes), and has two specials on SiriusXM.
SATURDAY – 9-PIN TAP TOURNAMENT @ ALL STAR LANES
I honestly don’t know how many years we’ve been doing this thing. Billy “Doc” Niles, aka “The Mid-Pack Legend” handed his fundraiser off to us several years ago when he decided to retire from racing and ever since, we’ve been using it as a fundraiser for the Rock Foundation.
The event is once again SOLD OUT, so thanks to all our amazing teams that signed up to join us on Saturday at All Star Lanes. Also, many thanks to our incredible sponsors, Great River Harley-Davidson & Proksch Transit!
Even though all the lanes have been spoken for, you can still come to All Star Lanes on Saturday for some fun, drinks, food, giveaways, & more! We’ll get started around 3pm and go until about 11pm, so please feel free to stop by & join us! They’ve got PLENTY of TVs at All Star Lanes, so you definitely won’t miss any of the Divisional round action, including the Packer game!!!

SUNDAY – CHILI COOK-OFF @ RIVER RATS BAR & GRILL
Look, I’m not a big fan of chili. I just can’t eat the spicy stuff. Now, if you’ve got a nice, meaty chili without a ton of heat, I’ll give it a shot…but if you’re putting reapers and ghost peppers in that shit, I’m gonna skip it. So, an event like this doesn’t really appeal to me.
But, I know that a LOT of people in this area thoroughly enjoy the near-death experience of a chili cook-off, and there’s one happening this #SundayFunday at River Rats Bar & Grill on French Island!
If you think your chili is the best, then conjure up a batch an bring it to River Rats in a crockpot on Sunday for their chili cook-off! Have it there by 4:30pm for judging. If you want to help judge the chilis, it’s only $10 to sample & vote!
The best chili will score a cash prize, and second place will snag a basket of goodies. There will also be raffles, drawings, and more!
