Three things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend

FINALLY!!!!!!! The weather has decided to become reasonable again.

I know many of you enjoy the summer, but I cannot stand anything above 80°. So, bring on the cooler temps!

Looking like it’s going to be in the mid 50’s all weekend, and there’s plenty of stuff to do in the area. Here’s a few suggestions:

FRIDAY – 54th ANNUAL OKTOBERFEST RACE WEEKEND @ THE LA CROSSE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY

Yes, the action kicks off on Thursday, but there’s a ton of racing left this weekend, including the Dick Trickle 99 today, the Midwest Tour Super Late Models & the Midwest Dash Series tomorrow, and the 602 Cratetoberfest on Sunday.

There’s food, beers, live music from Moniker & Blue Collar 40, memorabilia for sale, a pancake breakfast, a pet costume contest, a pumpkin coloring contest, and so much more!!!

And if you wanna buy tickets, you can get them at the gate, or buy them online here.

SATURDAY – GEEK GARAGE SALE @ DEAF EAR RECORDS FROM 10AM UNTIL 3PM

Located in the heart of downtown La Crosse, Deaf Ear Records is your home for music, movies, and all things GEEK-related!

They’ve got comic books, action figures, collectibles, posters, and a whole lot more.

And this Saturday, it’s their “Geek Garage Sale”, featuring independent sellers with everything from action figures to comics, collectibles, games, railroad train accessories, cars, and more.

I had a table at this event several years ago and ended up leaving with more than I brought, because there was so much cool shit to buy!

Find out more about this event here.

SATURDAY – THE ALPINE AUTUMN JAM @ THE ALPINE INN FROM 2PM UNTIL 7PM

It’s been a hot minute since I last saw The Weathered Pigs live…it was a chilly April afternoon/evening at Fox Hollow, to be precise.

So, I’m definitely going to be getting my duff up the bluff on Saturday to see them live at the Alpine Inn for their 2023 Autumn Jam.

In case you are unaware, The Weathered Pigs play ALL of your 90’s alterna-rock hits from bands like Bush, Eve 6, Collective Soul, Stone Temple Pilots, and others. The Pigs play at 2pm, and they will be followed by the acoustic country tunes from Bryce Thomaschefsky at 4pm. And from 5pm until 7pm, stick around for Hillbilly Rocketship…playing ALL your favorite country/rock songs from Luke Combs, Eric Church, Keith Urban & more.

Tickets for this 21+ event can be purchased online here.

SUNDAY – RIDE WITH THE OWNERS @ GREAT RIVER HARLEY-DAVIDSON FROM 9AM UNTIL NOON

I’m not going to lie…it’s going to be friggin’ chilly on this ride. Sunday’s high temp is 56°, which means it’s probably going to be in the upper 40’s at 9am.

But this is a short ride, and I’ve got heated grips on the new Harley, so the wife & I will be at Great River Harley-Davidson on Sunday morning for their third annual Ride with the Owners.

Brody & the staff at Great River HD have done an incredible job over the last couple of years and this end-of-season ride is a nice way to enjoy some time behind bars late in the year.

Check-in/Registration starts at 9am with kickstands up at 10am. The ride will meet-up with riders from their sister store, Iron Hill HD, at Riversend Bar in Ontario.

The ride will be going through the Mindoro Cut with food & drinks at the end.

So, bundle up & we’ll see you at Great River HD on Sunday morning! Find more info on this event here.

As always, there’s a bunch of other events happening in our area this weekend and you can find many of them online at AroundRiverCity.com

And if you’ve got an event coming up that you’d like to see on AroundRiverCity.com, you can submit it for free here.
