Three things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend

Now that we’ve dug out, let’s get out there & do something this weekend!

Seriously.

Thankfully, it looks like the weather is going to improve next week, and most of this snow should be gone in no time. But if you’re sick of being stuck at home…here’s a few suggestions if you’d like to get out and have some fun:

FRIDAY – CARRIE SUE & THE WOOD BURNERS @ THE PEARL ST. BREWERY AT 5PM

Beer and live music! What a combo.

Get to the Pearl St. Brewery on Friday night for some live tunes from Carrie Sue & the Wood Burners. They take the stage at 5pm and there’s plenty of great beers on tap to enjoy, plus some wine & ciders if that’s what you prefer.

Carrie Sue & The Wood Burners hail from Urbana, IL and feature a unique blend of folk, bluegrass, country and Americana music. Honest songs, heartfelt vocals and excellent musicianship mark a unique but familiar sound for this trio!

SATURDAY – CHILI COOKOFF @ GREAT RIVER HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 11AM

I know the snow makes it feel like we’re never going to get on the Harley anytime soon, but I did see a bunch of bikes out last weekend when it was in the mid-40’s, and riding season is juuuuuust around the corner!

Get in the riding spirit this Saturday at Great River Harley-Davidson for the return of their chili cookoff, starting at 11am!

SATURDAY – BENEFIT FOR JESSICA LONG @ THE HOLMEN AMERICAN LEGION AT NOON

Back in November, Jessica Long had an MRI that revealed she had a brain tumor. She had surgery to remove most of the Meningioma brain tumor, followed by a two-week stay in the ICU for rehabilitation.

She is now waiting to start radiation to battle the remaining 20% of the tumor that was unable to be removed. Jess has some long-term medical issues including double vision, dizziness, headaches, seizures, facial numbness and partial hearing loss.

She is unable to work, and her medical bills are mounting. The benefit for Jessica will be on Saturday at the Holmen American Legion from noon until 8pm and will feature a silent auction, raffles, food, cash bingo, bake sale, music and so much more!

If you can’t make it to the benefit, you can still donate via Venmo: Jessica Long @jesslo1978 or click here to donate to her GoFundMe account.
