Three things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend.

Six more weeks of winter!!!!!

Ah well…just means more time spent indoors drinking. Don’t forget, I’m taking a bus to Iowa on Saturday, March 4th to visit Pivo Brewery, Pulpit Rock Brewing Co., and Toppling Goliath! Get your tickets before they’re gone by clicking here.

If you’re looking for something to do in the Coulee Region this weekend, here’s a few suggestions:

FRIDAY – FRIDAY NIGHT COMEDY @ THE MAIN – AN EVENT SPACE

After you get home on Friday, get ready, grab a bite to eat, and then head to the Main – An Event Space for comedy!

Doors open at 7pm, and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $10 at the door, or buy them in advance online here.

Grab a few cocktails & laugh your ass off with two great comedians – Marz Timms & Max Chapman!

Marz Timms played Van Howard on the NETFLIX original series ‘EASY’ in seasons 1 & 2. He also voices the character Jax in the popular Mortal Kombat video game. He headlined the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, and was recently featured in the NBC, Universal Television Break Out Festival at Second City in Chicago.

Max Chapman began his stand-up comedy career in Minneapolis in 2019. and has performed all around the Midwest, mainly in the Twin Cities area.

SATURDAY NIGHT – ROCKIN’ THE PANTRY WITH THE FREEZERS @ MAGNOLIA SUNSET EVENTS CENTER FROM 6PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT

Live music. A 50/50 raffle. A silent auction. A kick-ass fundraiser for WAFER!

The Freezers will be rocking at Magnolia Sunset Events Center on Saturday night & raising money for WAFER. For a $20 donation at the door, you can enjoy some cocktails from 6-8pm, and live music from the Freezers from 8pm until midnight.

Non-perishable food items are also welcome!

SUNDAY – ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY @ THE MIRAGE SPORTS BAR & GRILL STARTING AT 2PM

I love this place. And I can’t believe they’ve been open for a year already in their new location!

If you haven’t been to the new Mirage on the south side of town, here’s your chance to stop by, enjoy some food & drinks, and maybe win some prizes!

They’ve got 22 TV’s in the joint, so there’s not a bad seat in the house when the games are on. They’ve got a cool spot to host small parties, and when the weather warms up, there’s also a nice patio area for some outdoor drinkin’!!!!

The anniversary party starts at 2pm, and there’s going to be some free food, some really good food specials, four REALLY BIG giveaways, and tons of other schwag.

SUNDAY – OLD FASHIONED: THE STORY OF THE WISCONSIN SUPPER CLUB @ THE LA CROSSE PUBLIC LIBRARY FROM 1:30PM UNTIL 3PM

As a man who is married to someone on the Library Board, I’m contractually required to tell you about this one.

Plus, it sounds pretty cool. I don’t really like an old fashioned. But I do enjoy a visit to a true, Wisconsin supper club!!!! Who doesn’t? I’d rather have dinner at a supper club than just about any restaurant.

The soup & salad bar. The relish tray. The drinks at the bar before being seated. Love it all!

And this Sunday from 1:30pm until 3pm at the main branch of the La Crosse Public Library, you can join filmmaker Holly De Ruyter to discover the origins of the supper club and explore the cultural and historical events that shaped supper club culture in the Badger state!

Find more info here, and register for this event here.

As always, there’s a bunch of other events happening in our area this weekend and you can find many of them online at AroundRiverCity.com

And if you’ve got an event coming up that you’d like to see featured on AroundRiverCity.com, you can submit it for free here.
