Greg Meyers Benefit

Greg Meyers suffered a spinal cord injury last winter while logging outside of Holmen. He is currently in a care facility in Prairie du Chien and is in therapy.  Greg is paralyzed from the chest down but is recovering more movement in his arms with the therapy and rehab.

On Saturday, September 15th, there will be a benefit for Greg and his family at The Barn - Sports Unlimited Campground Pavilion. There will be food, a live auction, a silent auction and raffles!

Donations can be dropped off at Wolf Machine Shop or the People’s State Bank in Prairie du Chien.

Crooked Barn Music Festival

The “Crooked Barn Music Festival” is Sunday, September 9th from 10am until 6pm at La Riviere Park in Prairie du Chien.

Live music, children’s activities, horseshoes, great food and many, many great prizes. Plus, an auction of an autographed Packer football and commemorative coin.

Prizes include a donated Takamine “Jasmine” acoustic guitar, an Epiphone hollow-body electric guitar, and a $500 BMX bike from Fuji.

All proceeds raised from this fundraiser support our local/county Domestic Abuse  Program which provides 24 helpline, victim advocacy, support with community  education outreach and awareness.

Our Savior’s Foundation Benefit Ride/Walk/Concert

This past May, Kristie Pierce-Cody, a devoted mom, passed away from cancer.

Kristie’s 3 wishes before passing were:  She wanted scholarships to be given to graduating kids who are going into the medical field.  She wanted college funds set up for her own children.  And she wanted money raised for this type of cancer with little funding.

Her friends and family started the “Our Savior’s Foundation, Kristie Pierce-Cody” Foundation in her honor to carry out these wishes.

There will be a benefit ride and charity event on Saturday August 25th for the “Our Savior’s Foundation”.

Registration for the ride starts at 10am at Norski’s Bar in Spring Grove. The cost is $20 per rider. A map and bandana will be provided at registration.

There will also be a Memorial Walk and concert after the ride at the Spring Grove Fest Building beginning at 2pm. The concert will feature live music from Cheech, Andreas Transo, Ricky Weeth, Simple Rogues and Deadset featuring Shay Cody.

Cost for the Memorial walk and concert is $20 for adults, $10 for children 17 and under.

Linda Hajek benefit

There will be a benefit for Linda(Heaney) Hajek on Saturday, August 11th 2012 at St Mary’s School in Caledonia. She was battling stomach cancer for two years and tragically lost the battle on July 4th of this year.

Proceeds from the benefit will cover medical costs.

There will be a Chicken-Q starting at 2pm, raffle, bake sale, etc.

Kurt Lauden Benefit

Kurt Lauden is a 46 year old Packer fan, with wife Sarah Bird Lauden and four kids, Ella, Julia, Anna, and Grant.

On May 18, 2012 Kurt was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia without maturation. This cancer starts inside the bone marrow, and develops quickly. The plan is to have Bone Marrow Stem Cell Transplant in Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Kurt will be out of work for approx 1 year and only has short term disability until August 14th. After that, the family will have no income.

Please come out and have some lunch at the Grocery Depot in New Lisbon on Sunday, August 12th and support a good cause.

Tom Gittens Benefit

Please help Tom Gittens as he battles Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Myelodysplastic Syndrome. . Tom was diagnosed with Leukemia in May of 2011, and in February of 2012 he was then diagnosed with MDS. He has been told that finding a donor for a Bone Marrow Transplant soon is crucial. Tom found a “perfect match”, which was his sister that lives in Seattle, they had to do numerous tests and it’s been determined that they both are healthy enough to do the transplant. He now needs to go through chemotherapy to help reduce some of the cancer cells prior to the transplant.

Tom’s friends and family are holding a benefit on Saturday, August 11th starting at 2pm at the Brownsville Community Center.

There will be live music, a live auction, raffles, fish bowl raffles, children’s activities, food, and much more!

Chloe Langen Benefit Ride

The community of Hokah, Minnesota will be sponsoring the “Chloe Langen Benefit Ride” on August 4th, 2012 at 10:00 AM.

Chloe Langen was severely burned over 50% of her body on June 29th when a campfire exploded.  She is currently hospitalized 2 1/2 hours away from her family’s home and is expected to remain hospitalized for an extended period of time.

The “Chloe Langen Benefit Ride” will begin Saturday, August 4th at 10AM at the I-90 rest area located north of La Crescent on the Minnesota side of the river.  A free will donation will be collected from all riders.  No registration is required and everyone is invited to join!

The ride will leave promptly at 10:30AM for Winona Harley Davidson. The ride will leave Winona Harley Davidson at 11AM for a scenic ride through the Winona/Houston County roads to Hokah, MN arriving approximately at noon.

A chicken BBQ for $8 will be available for everyone.  There will also be a silent auction raffle, bake sales and live bands for entertainment.  All proceeds going to the Langen Family.

5th Annual La Crosse Lions Club “Ride for Sight”

The 5th annual La Crosse Lions Ride for Sight is a non-timed family-fun trail ride or road ride on Saturday, August 11th.

Ride Options:

  • 12K and 22K trail rides towards West Salem
  • 25K road ride – easy to moderate difficultly
  • 50K road ride – moderate difficulty
  • 100K road ride – challenging – modified route includes killer hill!

 Proceeds support ongoing Lions Club vision projects, including:

Gloede Family Benefit/Fundraiser

On July 4th, Larry and Linda Gloede’s house caught fire. Luckily, they immediately evacuated their 5 children and two dogs and placed a call to 911. Thankfully, the family excaped safely without injury. There will be a benefit/fundraiser for the Gloedes on Sunday, August 19th from 2 until 8pm a the Moose Lodge on Ward Ave. in La Crosse.

There will be food, beverages, a silent auction, a raffle, entertainment and much more!

Raffle tickets are $10 each or 3/$25.  Purchase of raffle ticket includes food/beverages/entertainment.  Need not be present to win and free-will donation jars will also be at the benefit along with silent auction items.

There will also be live entertainment at the benefit from 5-8pm by “Shawno and Echant!!”

Benefit Pancake Breakfast

Last Friday 4 kids were injured in an accident at Money Creek Haven
Campground near Houston involving a campfire. 2 of the girls were both air
lifted to hospitals to care for their burns. Annabelle Heyer has
sustained burns on over 50% of her body, she is in a Madison burn hospital
receiving care. She is only five years old and has a long road to
recovery. Chloe Langen is 3 years old and has burns on more than 50% of
her body. She is being cared for at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. She also
has a long road to recovery and her 4th birthday is this Saturday, July
7th.

There will be a pancake breakfast on Saturday July 7th at 7AM-10AM at
Money Creek Haven Campground 5 miles north of Houston, MN on Highway 76.
