Tim was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma Cancer (Hodgkin’s Disease) in November. Tim will have Chemotherapy for the next 4-6 months and will be out of work with little or no income for an extended period of time.
There will be a benefit for Tim and his family on Saturday, March 16th at the Retreat Sportsmen Club in Retreat, WI, starting at 3pm.
There will be a silent auction, a chinese raffle, a pie auction, a DJ and food.

On October 15, 2012 Gary Evers was traveling west on Hwy. 14/61 just outside of Westby. He was stopped waiting to turn left onto Saugstad Rd. when his car was struck from behind by a second eastbound vehicle.
Upon impact, his vehicle was spun around into the westbound lane of traffic and directly into the path of a milk truck,. The milk truck was unable to avoid colliding with Evers’ car, which was then struck a second time.
Evers was wearing his seatbelt and both air bags in his car were deployed upon impact, but the double whammy crash left him with traumatic brain injuries. He was transported to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, where specialists try to help his body reconnect with his brain.
The crash left Evers with diffuse axonal head injuries, similar to conditions suffered during shaken baby syndrome, where the impulse connections of the brain that travel down the neck and spinal column are sheared and disconnected from whiplash type movement.
Externally, Gary only received an abrasion on his head in the crash. His bones weren’t broken, but his ability to move was. He was unable to walk, talk, move his head or even breath on his own when he entered the hospital. After months of physical, occupational, speech, vibration and electronic stimulation therapy, Gary is making small strides forward.
The Coon Valley Lions is sponsoring a benefit for Gary and his family on Saturday, March 9, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Coon Valley American Legion Hall. There will be food, a live auction, Chinese auction, a raffle and live music.

Neala Frye, 23, died tragically of hypothermia secondary to intoxication. Final toxicology results are pending.
A scholarship fund honoring UWL student Neala Frye will benefit students for decades.
Organizers plan to raise $25,000 within two years
A university junior or senior studying marketing will receive a $1,000 scholarship each year that will go toward tuition and other educational needs. Recipients must hold a 3.5 grade point average and be involved with the university’s American Marketing Association, in which Frye served as the advertising officer.
Organizers will hold fundraisers to benefit the scholarship fund.

Paul Swenson was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Glioma cancerous brain tumor in early January. Unfortunately, the tumor is inoperable and Paul has been given between two months to a year to live.
There will be a benefit for Paul on Saturday, February 9th at Silverdale Bar in Angelo, Wisconsin starting at noon.
There will be food, music, raffles, and much more. All money raised will help pay for Paul’s medical expenses.

In December, Brandon Larson was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), an aggressive brain tumor. It is inoperable, and is quickly spreading. Please join Brandon, along with his friends and family for a benefit at the Viroqua American Legion on Saturday, March 9th starting at 11:30am.
There will be no cover charge, but donations are encouraged. There will be a silent auction, a bake sale, free beer(while it lasts), raffles, live music and much more!
Raffle Prizes are: $300 for first, $200 for second & $100 for third. You won’t need to be present to win and winners will be drawn between 9:30pm - 10:00pm. There is no limit to how many you can buy.

On October 13th, Chrissy Tevis found a lump in her breast and followed up with a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsies. Chrissy was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is currently being treated with chemotherapy, to be followed by a double mastectomy and reconstruction.

Brenda Morley was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) in April, 2012. This is the same blood cancer that afflicts Robin Roberts of GMA.
Brenda’s doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester have prescribed a bone marrow transplant to treat her MDS. The transplant date has been set and the Chemo will start January 23rd. Following the transplant Brenda will live in a sterile housing environment for 30 or more days while her immune system rebuilds strength.
The Brenda Morley MDS Benefit Fundraiser will be Saturday, January 26th, from 1-6pm at The American Legion in La Crescent. There will be food, beverages, face painting, a Cornhole tournament, a silent auction, a bake sale and much more!

Maddox Henke was born with a birth defect called Craniosynostosis.
Craniosynostosis is a birth defect in which the bones of the skull close prematurely, not allowing the brain to develop naturally. Maddox underwent surgery on Sept. 4th to remove part of the skull.
Maddox is being treated at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Although some of the expenses have been covered by insurance even the smallest items add up quickly for Maddox’s family. The average doctor visit is over $100 just for gas and travel to the Mayo Clinic. Maddox will have year’s of medical treatment ahead of him.
Please join his family and loved ones for a benefit on Saturday, January 26th from noon until 4pm a the Zone Bar in Sparta.

Jason Church, a Menomonie native, former UWL student and football player, and second lieutenant Airborne Ranger for the Army, was serving his country in Afghanistan when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb.
At age 23, the solider and friend sustained serious injuries including the loss of both legs below the knee. His courage, passion, and enthusiasm for his country and for life will help him through this long battle ahead of him. With medical expenses from the loss of both legs and a lifetime of therapy and rehab, we are planning this event to help aid in the financial obstacles Jason and his family may endure. Lisa (Parrish) Grimsled has PNH, Paratysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria, a rare blood disease that causes anemia, hemolysis, low blood counts and blood clots. Due to this disease, Lisa has not worked since November 2011 and has been told she may never work again. Her husband, Jan, is missing work to drive her to Rochester for health care every week. Her medical bills are overwhelming and will continue to grow.
Lisa’s hope revolves around a bone marrow transplant. However, 85% of people with this disease die from blood clots before they get receive the transplant.
The family, friends, and the Lasting Legends Car Club are hosting a benefit for Lisa on Saturday, December 8th at Retreat Sportsman’s Club in Retreat, WI starting at 2pm.
There will be a live auction at 4pm, along with a Chinese raffle, a bake sale, music and food.
