In September of 2012, Dave Schroeder went missing.
With this tragedy came the realization that without a body, there is no death certificate. Without a death certificate or body, Dave is considered alive in the eyes of the state and in all business matters. This fact has put the Schroeders in an interesting dilemma….wait the standard 7 years until the state declares he is dead or approach the courts with proof that he is not alive, but a body cannot be recovered. The family has decided to approach the court. Unfortunately, it also means the family will have to pay lawyer fees for a declaration of death.
There will be a benefit for the family on Saturday, September 21st from 1-5pm at the Holmen American Legion.
There will be food, a silent auction, and fun for the kids.
Donations can be sent to Journey Lutheran Church:
2703 Sand Lake Rd.
Onalaska, WI 54650
Or the Schroeder Emergency Fund at Park Bank:
P.O. Box 100
Holmen, WI 54636.
You can contact Deb Sullivan-738-2923, Lora Purnell- 608-346-0166, or Stephanie Kind-783-1892 with any questions.

Eric Dobson was recently diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor. The doctors think the tumor was growing since he was around 14 years old. The doctors got most of the tumor during surgery and with the help of chemo and radiation they hope to destroy the remaining cells.
Eric is just 22 years old, and has a 4 month old little girl. The odds are in his favor, but he needs all the support he can get.
The Team Eric Benefit to help Eric battle brain cancer will be held Saturday, August 31st at the Boscobel Bowl and Banquet. There will be t-shirts for sale, a bake sale, a silent auction, raffles and a dunk tank. Live music from “Gravity” will be performing.

A short time ago, Bobby Johnson was diagnosed with colorectal cancer & underwent surgery in March to remove that tumor and many surrounding lymph nodes. Since then, the cancer has metastasized to his liver (Stage IV) and after several months of chemotherapy, Bobby will have to endure liver surgery in Madison, followed by more chemo & radiation treatments.
Bobby is a long-time employee of Stansfield Vending and a wonderful husband of 6 years to Erin, and father to Hannah and Ava. Erin and Bobby will be required to take time off from work during this difficult time and medical bills are already accumulating.
Family, friends, and loved ones will be holding a benefit for this young family on Saturday, August 10th at the All Star Banquet Hall from 4–9pm. There will be a Chinese auction, a silent auction, and numerous raffle drawings.
Cash contributions may be made to the Bobby Johnson Benefit Fund at State Bank Financial.

Imagine not being able to see the beautiful rivers and bluffs of the Coulee Region because you need glasses or are impaired by a condition that requires surgery or even a new set of eyes. This is the reality for many people in our community and throughout the world. In fact, one child goes blind every minute. Half a million will have lost their sight by the end of the year.
Help us to prevent this tragedy on a local, state, and global level while enjoying a scenic ride with your family and friends. Your generosity helps the La Crosse Lions Club support many sight conservation programs. All proceeds go towards ongoing Lions projects
The 6th Annual Ride for Sight is a non-timed, family-fun ride on Saturday, August 10th. There will be many different age divisions and different ride lengths. Registration for the rides is between 7am and 10:30am at the La Crosse River State Trail parking lot on County Highway B.
For more information, please visit the La Crosse Lions’ website or contact Erica Brandau at email@example.com
