Frank Bakalars, 64, has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. AML is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow in which the bone marrow makes abnormal myeloblasts (a type of white blood cell), red blood cells, or platelets and must be treated by undergoing a bone marrow transplant. “Buck” has gone through numerous bouts of chemotherapy and is finally scheduled for his bone marrow transplant at the UW-Madison Hospital now that a donor has thankfully been found!!
Buck is a retired Town of Shelby Police Officer where he served for 32 years! He & his wife, Sandy also managed the Goose Island Campgrounds for over a decade. They have two children and six grandchildren.
Any and all donations and proceeds from the event will go to offset the expenses of Buck’s transplant.
