Kathy McKee was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last July. She had eight hours of surgery on July 22 and began chemotherapy in September. Despite the chemo, the cancer had traveled to her liver by the end of October. Chemotherapy and radiation hasn’t seemed to help stem a cancer so aggressive that it has spread to her liver and lymph nodes and recently threatened to block the blood supply to her colon.
McKee raised two sons in West Salem. She’s been an active participant in West Salem’s annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life as well as a part-time employee of Hillview Health Care Center.
Due to the financial strain on Kathy and her family, there will be a benefit on Saturday, March 3 at the Onalaska American Legion for Kathy.
The benefit to honor McKee’s strength and compassion will feature a chicken-Q, raffles, a silent auction, T-shirts, bracelets, a deejay and many donated prizes.
To make a donation or for additional information, contact Carla Fabian at 769-7891 or Angie Macha at 797-9268
