
On June 23rd of 2010, 7 1/2 year old Kaliya, died due to a tragic accident.
Kaliya was a joyful, carefree child, who loved to sing and dance, and had no sense of fear. Kaliya was also non-verbal and Autistic. Though her house was heavily armed with alarms, Kaliya was able to escape through a window. Like 92% of children with Autism, Kaliya was prone to wandering.
After 45 minutes of frantic searching, Kaliya was found at the bottom of a neighbor’s pool.
On Saturday, June 25th, it’s the first “Blue Rose Run”. All proceeds from the event will help implement the Take Me Home program in La Crosse and surrounding counties.
Registration will be $20 from 11am-Noon at Neuie’s North Star: 1732 George Street in La Crosse.
The first 100 people registered get a free T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded for the best and worst poker hand. Stops will be at the Log Cabin, The Zone, Features, Fox Hollow, and end at the Joint. After the run there will be a silent auction with a guitar from Dave’s Guitar, $100 worth of Tattoo work from Jake Phillips, Lia Sophia jewlery, a hand knit blanket, Body N Sol gift certificates, along with a few other items.
Brent Brown Band will be playing during the auction.
