Sonja Conway was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the liver. The doctors at Mayo have given her less than 3 months to live.
Her husband is a retired construction worker and is on a fixed income of less than $1200 per month. Sonja worked for 23 years as a
care giver for the elderly and disabled through the outreach program of Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She did their laundry, made their beds, helped them bathe, and did other chores around their house. Due to her terminal illness, she hasn’t been able to work since June 2010.
Sonja’s family is conducting a benefit luncheon for her at Milty’s in Lansing, Iowa on September 25, 2010 from 11:00 to 3 p.m. There will be a buffet (free will donations - no set price), a silent auction, and a raffle for gift certificates from area businesses.
