Mike was diagnosed with kidney cancer three years ago. At the time, they removed the kidney and felt confident that Mike was cancer free and further treatment was not necessary. However, a CT scan and biopsy two months ago confirmed that the cancer has metastasized in his bones. Due to Mike’s previous cancer, he was denied disability insurance.
There will be a benefit for Mike and his family to help the Hickes with ongoing and upcoming medical expenses.
The benefit will be on Sunday, October 28th from noon until 8pm at the Holmen American Legion.
There will be food, a silent auction, bucket raffles, meat raffles, a wine raffle, a kid’s corner, bake sale and much more.

In September, Nate Burns underwent back surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester to have a bulging disc removed. Due to the surgery he has remained at St. Mary’s to undergo inpatient rehab to relearn to walk.
He and his wife Marinda are now relocating their home to a handicap accessible apartment building in the event that he does not have 100% recovery. Our goal is to help offset these expenses from moving and medical bills not covered by insurance.
There will be a benefit for Nate on Sunday, November 4th at the Popcorn Tavern starting at 6pm.
There will be live music, beer, food, a silent auction and lots of fun!
If you cannot make it to the benefit, donations can be mailed to G.E.C.U. in the name of Nate or Marinda Burns, they will also handle credit/debit card donations as well via phone call.
