Daniel Mickelson had a sore under his tongue that was not healing. He was referred to a specialist in La Crosse. A biopsy revealed that he had oral cancer. Daniel had major surgery on Nov 15th that removed roughly 32 lymph nodes from his neck, part of his tongue and underneath his tongue. To replace what they needed to remove from his mouth area they needed to take part of his right wrist, forearm and artery. In turn they also need to remove tissue from his left leg to skin graph the wrist. They later found out that 13-14 of the lymph nodes were cancerous, so he needs to have all of his teeth removed before he can start radiation.
There will be a benefit for Daniel on Sunday, March 25th from 11am until 5pm at the Cashton Community Hall. This benefit will help defer the accumulated debt from Danny’s medical care and the dislocation and travel costs from his trips and stays to Madison and forthcoming treatments.
There will be a silent auction, live auction/raffles, music, games and a bake sale. A meal will also be served.

His radiation treatment recently ended in December and Colton has a long 33 month treatment plan of chemo ahead.
