Julie Holton Benefit

Filed under: News — Jean @ 10:59 am

Julie Holton has a grade 4 medulloblastoma.  This specific brain tumor is typically found in children and is rare in adults.  It originates in the cerebellum, however, Julie’s has moved outside the cerebellum onto the brainstem, making the tumor inoperable.  She is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy.

Julie Holton is a 1995 graduate of New Lisbon High School. She received her Bachelors Degree in Biology with a biomedical concentration and a minor in Chemistry from  UWL in 2005.

She married Travis Holton and they have a 12 year old daughter, Lexie and a 4 year old son, Carter. Julie was employed as a Medical Lab Technologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro, until November 2009 when her growing brain tumor affected her motor skills and ability to work. Julie was also a Girl Scout leader and a helped at Necedah School where her children go to school.

She loves to entertain and cook at family functions and friendly parties. She enjoyed camping, hiking, running, and yoga before this disease affected her balance and vision.  The most important thing to Julie is watching her children grow up.

There will be a benefit for Julie and her family on Saturday, March 12th at the New Lisbon American Legion from 11am until 5pm.

There will be food, kids activities, a texas hold-em tournament at 1pm, and much more!

Alexis Barton Leukemia Benefit

Filed under: News — Jean @ 10:37 am

Alexis Barton is my eight-year old girl scout cookie sales-person who was diagnosed with Leukemia in August of 2010. Her mother, Sonjia Barton (girl scout leader) has Lupus and struggles herself with her own health issues, yet somehow manages to maintain a constant vigilance over her daughters bedside.

Alexis has gone through spinal taps, blood transfusions, chemotherapy, radiation, shingles, and now is being fitted with braces for her little legs so they can support her upper body.

Due to her family’s rising medical costs, there will be a benefit for Alexis on Saturday March 5th, 2011 at the Onalaska Legion starting at 1pm.

There will be food & live music featuring Checkered Past! There will also be a silent auction, kids games, a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle and more!

Donations can be made in the form of a check addressed to Alexis Barton at any Associated Bank Branch.
