On April 2, 2010 Spencer Scheil was involved in a tragic UTV accident. Spencer loved the outdoors and any activities that involved motorsports. Spencer was also very active in school, where he was on the school council. Spencer was “selfless, thoughtful, caring, loving, humourous, supportive, kind hearted, devoted, gentle, generous, and friendly. In Spencer’s honor, the Scheil family plans to hold a yearly benefit and raise money for a scholarship in his name at the La Crescent High School, the Diabetes Foundation as well as other charitable organizations in the community.
This year, the Spencer Scheil Memorial Blizzard Ride and Fundraiser will be on Saturday, January 29th at the La Crescent Snowmobile Club. The ride starts at 11am, with the route to be determined on the day of the ride.
There will be food from 4:30pm until 7pm, and a DJ with music and prizes from 7pm until 10pm.
Prizes include a 2011 Polaris 550 IQ Shift Snowmobile, $1,000, $750, $500 and more. Tickets for the fundraiser are $20 and include your admission, food, and entertainment.

Jerry Gilbertson was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January, 2009. After 47 radiation treatments in 2009, the cancer was in remission. After some back pain in May 2010, Jerry was then diagnosed with bone cancer. In September 2010 he was then diagnosed with Stage 3 liver cancer. Sadly, Jerry lost his battle with cancer on January 4th.
Due to the outstanding medical costs, Jerry’s family and co-workers are putting together a fundraiser on Saturday, February 5th at Skyline Golf Course in BRF from 2-8pm…there will be food, raffles, auctions and music.

On October 1, 2010, 21-month old Mason Sprehn was diagnosed with Testicular Rhabdomyosarcoma.
Rhabdomyosarcoma is a cancer that grows in soft tissues of the body, usually muscle. This rare disease most often occurs in children or young adults. Because Mason is so young, his battle is going to be very difficult.
There will be a benefit for Mason and his family on Sunday February 13th at The Log Cabin in Bangor, WI, from 1 until 5pm.
The benefit will include a silent auction, Chinese raffle, a 50/50 raffle and much more.

Lisa (Ostrem) Dutton is battling inflammatory breast cancer that was misdiagnosed and then spread to her lungs. She also has 6 inoperable brain tumors.
Lisa lives in Onalaska with her husband, Alan, and their two boys, Zach and Matt.
On Saturday, January 22nd from 11-5pm, there will be a benefit for Lisa and her family at the VFW in Viroqua.
There will be food and refreshments, a bake sale, a silent auction, kids activities, a chinese auction, a pie auction and a live auction starting at 3:30.
Monetary donations can be dropped off at WCCU locations for the “Lisa Dutton Benefit”
