Jennifer Glynn is currently diagnosed with a very rare and severe disease called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Along with this disease, she has developed other underlining conditions. She has seen many providers from Gundersen Lutheran, UW Madison and now Mayo. They are working tirelessly to find some kind of answers for her.

This disease causes Jennifer to have fainting spells and severe fatigue. She has increased heart beats to over 200 beats per minute and her blood pressure drops significantly. The doctors have given her strict orders to remain in bed for her safety. She is unable to sit or stand for any period of time as she will faint. She has fallen multiple times, has had several concussions and lacerations. Her body has become very weak, she’s had significant weight loss, and her muscles can no longer support her.

Jennifer is undergoing IVIG (Intravenously Administrated Immunoglobulin) which is created by using over 1,000 plasma donors. The cost of these transfusions is $20,000 each. She will have 5 transfusions before she is discharged from St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester and will continue to have weekly treatments for the next 11 weeks. She will have many trips back and forth to Mayo, once she is discharged for continued treatment and further testing.

Because Jen’s POTS is so severe, it will leave her permanently disabled, but to what extent is still unknown. The disease is not curable, but we hope it can be managed with medications, diet, therapy and restricted physical activity, as she won’t be able to stand for extended periods of time. She has not been able to work for the past year and her family is suffering. Her husband Rob recently lost his job due to tending to her medical needs. Her husband, their six kids and the rest of her family have done everything they can to help support her emotionally.

There will be a benefit for Jen on Saturday, April 28th from 11am until 1pm at the Onalaska American Legion.

There will be live music, kid’s entertainment, raffles, pull tabs, pizza and a Chicken-Q from Rooster Andy’s.
